Learning to live with Fibromyalgia!

Living with fibromyalgia is not  an easy thing to do! You learn to live with a high pain tolerance – otherwise, you would never get out of bed.
The commercials on TV saying fibromyalgia is a disorder with widespread pain caused by overactive nerves, don’t even begin to describe the pain, and everything you deal with!  They make it seem like there is no way you can have pain all over your body at once, but you can!

Just being tapped on the arm or leg, can send massive shockwaves of pain through out your body! Just getting out of bed and getting dressed, you need to lay down and rest! You have to prioritize your day to get the most important stuff done while you have the energy and strength to do it!

You can tell by looking at me that I’m sick! I seem almost totally normal! What is normal anyway? I don’t know! Some people will never understand, and get annoyed that you can do something. “But, you just did it a hour ago!” Yes, just because I am able to do something one minute, doesn’t mean I will be able to do it the next! I have to save my energy if I have something planned at night! I see things that have to be done, but if I do them, then I won’t have the energy to be able to get to where I need to be that night!  Forget getting a good nights sleep! Who are we kidding here! The pain wakes you up, keeps you awake! No matter how tired you are, the sleep doesn’t happen! If it finally does happen, you don’t enter a deep sleep, so you wake up feeling tired!

When you have fibromyalgia, you are aware of everything but have no way of controlling it! You can be feeling great one minute, and be completely drained the next. I wouldn’t “wish” this disorder on anyone. Living with chronic pain is one of the hardest things I have ever done! I prefer not to sit in my recliner all day, but sadly some days that is what happens!

If god brings you to it, he’ll bring you through it! God gives you what you can handle! Wish he didn’t think I could handle so much! I have faith that God will take care of me, and keep me going as long as he wishes me to!
